Sun Fungus-Tinea Versicolor Walk in Clinic

Dr. Jain at Walk in clinic in Orlando saw a patient with complaints of light colored spots on his abdomen and chest for last 2 months. The patient didn’t have any itching, burning or fever. The patient had similar problems in the past and has been treated.

The patient was given 2.5% selsun shampoo. Selsun blue is only 1% and is over the counter but selsun 2.5% is a prescription strength.  Ketoconazole (Nizoral ointment and shampoo) is another treatment. It is normally applied to dry skin and washed off after 10 minutes, repeated daily for 2 weeks. Clotrimazole (1%) is also used combined with selenium sulfide (2.5%)
