Hepatitis B at Orlando Urgent Care Walk-In Medical Center

A 55- year-old patient with the complaints of nausea by Dr. Usha Jain at our Urgent Care Walk-in Medical Center. The patient thought he just has a stomach flu and just needs some medicine for nausea. Dr. Jain examined the patient and ordered blood tests for CBC and chemistry profiles which checks for liver, kidney and diabetes. Next day, the patient returned for follow up and his blood tests showed elevated liver enzymes (AST & ALT). Dr. Jain suspected possible hepatitis and ordered the hepatitis profile. The patient’s blood tests results revealed that the patient has hepatitis B.

This patient would have been misdiagnosed as having stomach flu without the blood tests. Blood test are sometimes essential to make the right diagnosis as in this case.
