Blisters on the Scalp- Shingles

A 53 year old patient was seen at the Walk in medical center in Orlando for severe headache and lymph node on the face and upper part of the chest. The patient has no previous problems. The patient was visiting in Orlando. Dr. Jain examined the patient and while examining Dr. Jain looked for blisters on the face and also in the hair. Dr. Jain found a patch of blisters with red, erythematous base. Dr. Jain made a diagnosis of Shingles. The blood was drawn and chest x ray was done. The patient was given Valtrex 1 gm. tid and cortisone injection along with vitamin B. The patient responded to the treatment very well and was pain free in two days. Proper diagnosis is important for the right treatment.
