Conjunctivitis-Blocked Tear Duct

Dr. Usha Jain saw a 4 month old patient in the urgent care center in the Dr. Phillips area for persistent discharge from the right eye. He had this problem for several weeks (possible conjunctivitis). The patient had been seen by another doctor and was given some antibiotic drops. The patient didn’t get better and the mother was told that the patient had a blocked tear duct.

Dr. Jain saw the patient and thought that the child may be resistant to the antibiotic drops which was given by another MD. The patient was given broadspectrum antibiotic eye drops and the patient responded well. Mom did well as well because she did not have to worry about the blocked tear duct any more.
